Native regex routing into OpenShift

2. What is the nature and description of the request?

To support regex routing, the customer has had to implement nginx behind the OpenShift Router. Ideally this would be handled natively by an OpenShift resource - ie Routes.

Looking forward CU suspect Gateway API for OpenShift will be the successor to Routes but the upstream project Contour also doesn't support regex routing, thou there is chatter about it here:

3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Thinking broader than a single customer, by implementing regex routing in Gateway API (or OpenShift routes) would make OpenShift far easier for all our customers to use.
