$CUSTOMER is in the middle of the process of becoming a green and eco-friendly enterprise.

Company executives have sent the challenge to technical teams to measure the power consumption of their servers.

They already can extract this data directly from the server BMC, but these global numbers are not enough for them, they want to go a step further and do more complex analysis like how much power is this pod or namespace consuming? In addition, they would like to measure the cost of energy per pod/namespace via some reporting available in OpenShift.

They want to discover things like "this software running here generates a higher power consumption than others" or maybe find out which users, namespaces, or even server models how much power are consuming...

Why is this important for OpenShift?

Many companies are moving into the same direction. Climate change is an important topic nowadays. We think this would be useful for other companies as well

From the marketing perspective, we think this feature should be implemented.
