OpenShift CLI is very powerful tool to interact with clusters, but still hard to configure and install for developers.
- Mac: Homebrew is a popular package manager to install software (e.g. kubectl, KinD) and also oc, but the version present is outdated (4.2.x) due a change in the tagging system in our repo that breaks compatibility with Homebrew systems: https://github.com/openshift/oc/issues/774
- Windows: Chocolatey is an increasing popular tool to install software on Windows, we do offer oc there but the version is very outdated 3.x https://chocolatey.org/packages/openshift-cli
We see people struggling installing oc CLI in their workstation when we run workshops like this https://redhat-scholars.github.io/openshift-starter-guides/rhs-openshift-starter-guides/4.6/common-explore.html#command_line_interface
It would be cool to have an updated support for Homebrew and Chocolatey, as they are the easiest way to bring software in their respective target Operating Systems
