There are more advanced approaches in the works and we might just revert this commit later in time but I would like to have something that we can relatively easily backport as supporting Java 25 for our LTS could be nice if it doesn't require crazy changes.
@Sanne I had this PR in the works before you started talking about an agent. I'm not saying this should be kept as is in the future but I'd like to have the option to backport basic Java 25 support to 3.27 LTS if need be, which is somewhat possible with this PR and not really possible if we introduce a brand new infrastructure.
