Only when I used it, I figured out it was a zoom bar.

Please change it to a horizontal bar (not as long) and give it a search icon (of the bootstrap glyphicons) and put it on the top right (or bottom right like libreoffice - make a call what you think is better). Basically it would look something like this:

But you can also go with the libreoffice approach, with the minus and plus before/after it. Just open LibreOffice.
