During marshalling and unmarshalling of scores - or other reflective using implementations - it's useful to have a private no-arg constructor available.

Note that such reflective marshalling is inferior to optaplanner-persistence-* implementations (such as o-p-xstream and o-p-jaxb), but helpful if no tech-specialized marshalling implementation is available... yet.
