This is the first phase of the front-end work on real road connections. In this phase, let's ignore how the optimal route is computed on back end and just try to use a 3rd party service ¹ to request a real road connection between adjacent locations instead of air connections.

IMPORTANT: after completing this, we will no longer be able to guarantee consistency between displayed route length and route length delivered from back end. This will be a known issue and is OK for the initial step.
