      Customer Problem

The current signup process for the Red Hat Developer Sandbox is on the Red Hat Developers webpage, which can be confusing and inconvenient for users primarily working within the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console. To improve the user experience and streamline the onboarding process, there is a need to move the signup process for the Developer Sandbox to the Hybrid Cloud Console.

      Business Case

By moving the signup process for the Red Hat Developer Sandbox to the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console, we can achieve the following benefits:

      Improved User Experience

Simplifying and streamlining the signup process will result in a more seamless user onboarding experience.

      Increased Adoption

Making the signup process more accessible and convenient can lead to more users adopting the Developer Sandbox.

      Enhanced Brand Image

Showcasing a user-friendly and efficient process will improve our brand image and reinforce our commitment to customer satisfaction.

      Cross-Product Synergy

We can promote awareness and usage of other Red Hat products and services by integrating the signup process into the Hybrid Cloud Console.

      User Stories

      • As a developer, I want to quickly sign up for the Red Hat Developer Sandbox from the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console to streamline my onboarding experience.
      • As an IT manager, I want my team to have a seamless and convenient signup process for the Red Hat Developer Sandbox, ensuring they can quickly access and utilize the available resources.
      • As a system administrator, I want to manage my team's access to the Red Hat Developer Sandbox and other Red Hat products within the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console, simplifying the overall management process.

      Product Needs

Integrate Signup Process into Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console

      • Develop a seamless and user-friendly Red Hat Developer Sandbox signup process within the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console.
      • Ensure the signup process includes all necessary steps, such as accepting terms and conditions, providing user details, and setting up authentication.

      Single Sign-On (SSO) Support

      • Implement Single Sign-On (SSO) support to allow users to access the Red Hat Developer Sandbox and other Red Hat products with a single set of credentials.

      Documentation and Tutorials

      • Update the existing documentation and tutorials to reflect the new signup process for the Red Hat Developer Sandbox.
      • Provide clear and concise instructions to guide users through the new signup process within the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console.

      Requirements

      Phase 1

      1. When a User lands on RHD/developer-sandbox the page will have little to no visual changes. The button for the sandbox will say “Go to Sandbox”.
      2. When a User clicks “Go to Sandbox” they will be taken to the Red Hat SSO.
      3. If the user does not have a Red Hat account they will make one.
      4. If the user does have a Red Hat account they will be logged in.
      5. The users will be taken to the Developer Sandbox page in the OpenShift group in HCC.
      1. If a user has no sandbox associated with their Red Hat account they will see a page inviting them to sign up by clicking the “Get Started”.
      2. Users will be required to join RHD before they can create a sandbox
      3. Users will be required to be vetted by recaptcha before they can activate a sandbox
      4. When a user has a sandbox they will be presented with a “Go to Sandbox” button.
      5. Clicking the “Go to Sandbox” button will send the user into the OpenShift UI sandbox.
      6. Accessing or creating a sandbox for Data Science or Dev Space will still be done in RHD.

      Phase 2

      1. When a user already has a sandbox they will be given three buttons. One will take them to OpenShift UI, one will take them to Data Science, and the other will take them to Dev Spaces.
      2. Accessing any parts of the sandbox or creating any kind of sandbox will only be done in the HCC.
