“In order for customers to drill down while troubleshooting issues using traces, we as the Observability UI Team need to integrate a Gantt chart into the Distributed tracing plugin, so customers can see the trace spans details”

Goals & Outcomes

Product Requirements:

• A Gantt chart with the details of the trace is opened when clicking on one of the table results
• In the Gantt chart, each span can be toggled to hide/show children spans

Engineering/Data Analytics Requirements:

• The gantt chart for traces must be implemented upstream first as a Perses plugin
• The trace details such as id, and filters are defined as URL parameters, so they are easy to share and can be loaded from korrel8r

Open Questions

• How much of the jaeger ui can be reused?
