Investigate our use of OpenSSL as a replacement to the stock BoringSSL implementation used in upstream Envoy. Collect inputs so that the opportunities and benefits can be weighed against the required resources and anticipated increasing risk of the current trajectory. This should help us drive towards an informed decision.

Decision:

• Will continue to use OpenSSL for the foreseeable future.
• Will work on developing a bridge layer between BoringSSL API and OpenSSL
