Because of bugs https://issues.redhat.com/browse/OSSM-1396 and https://issues.redhat.com/browse/OSSM-1052, the documentation should report that using externalIPs in the services is not supported or shouldn't be used if gateways are managed via ServiceMeshControlPlan. Until the first bug will be fixed.
Pages where would be useful to mention the issue:
- https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.10/service_mesh/v2x/upgrading-ossm.html
Suggestions:
- The issue should be reported as a known issue.
- In the upgrade section should be reported as a warning because it leads to seeing the service to be removed when the ServiceMeshControlPlane is updated, so also during upgrades.
