During testing of SM-Openshift Virtualiztion integration, we've come accross an issue with communication with SM bound pods (With an istio-proxy container).

We can communicate with a pod from the node which it's deployed on, but not from outside that node. And even in that instance, only when sending a request directly to the pod, not through a svc. Another instance that works is or using the istio ingress svc.

No strict policies were applied.

It seems that svc routing on OVN clusters isn't working for SM pods. This doesn't occur with non-SM pods.

This affects the upcoming relase of the coming Openshift-Virtualization, since it seems SM-Openshift-Virtualization isn't supported on OVN clusters.
