In case of the Spine-Leaf architecture with Bare Metal nodes in the leaves, dhcp-relays are running in each leaf. Those dhcp-relays are passing DHCP requests to the DHCP servers running on controller nodes and managed by neutron.
This is one of the use cases where neutron-dhcp-agent needs to be run together with ML2/OVN backend to provide those DHCP servers (dnsmasq) on controller nodes.
We need to investigate if core OVN supports DHCP requests sent by the dhcp-relays (they may be different than "normal" DHCP requests) and:
- if yes - check what we would need in the Neutron to support that use case with native OVN DHCP implementation,
- if not - check what would be needed to implement support for that in core OVN and then see check what we would need in the Neutron to support that use case with native OVN DHCP implementation,
