TODO: this was migrated from STF to OSPRH as part of next-gen implementation. This description may need to be reviewed and refined.

(initially discussed in Slack thread https://redhat-internal.slack.com/archives/C04ML02E1JQ/p1695311498481579)

In RHOSP 17.1 and later, we now have the feature that Ceilometer can send us vanity names for projects and virtual machines rather than only UUID.

In OSP observability, we will need to:

      • implement changes in our documentation (to enable the feature)
      • update our helper scripts to enable this and test it
      • update our dashboards to use the vanity name fields instead of uuid
      • perform various amounts of testing
      • update Documentation Changes to indicate that the default configuration files in our procedures have changed
      • create release notes indicating this new feature
