Important
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Customer is unable to FC-based extend volumes for instances running on specific computes because of os-brick errors:
2026-01-28 15:53:34.181 2 ERROR oslo_messaging.rpc.server [req-0e5ab027-ea88-44a1-aafa-4f7f39b5a5b9 DEL DEL - default default] Exception during message handling: oslo_concurrency.processutils.ProcessExecutionError: Unexpected error while running command. Command: multipathd resize map DEL Exit code: 1 Stdout: 'timeout receiving packet\n'
It looks the same as upstream https://bugs.launchpad.net/os-brick/+bug/1888675
Customer claimed that this is an important problem for them because without fix they are forced to take follow-up actions after failed extensions and this requires VM maintenance windows, which are hard to obtain from end users.
Expected behavior
Volume extension works smoothly
Bug impact
Explained above
Known workaround
Not aware of
Additional context
Sosreports from controller nodes and compute node affected by the problem together with nova-compute logs with os-brick errors are attached to this case.
Our goal here is to get a HF if we don't plan to release RHOSP 17.1 content anymore.
