We are getting reports from the field of unexpectedly large numbers of OpenShift workers. This makes daemonsets problematic for use where not strictly necessary. Our use case of needing well-known pod name patterns for predictable IPs for the pods can be handled by deploying as stateful sets instead of daemonsets - using the pod naming pattern and replica instead of node names.
