Weedle Sprint 283
This Jira tracks creating a draft KCS (for PM publication) to support customers impacted by the Marketplace catalog retirement and the progressive “lift and shift” of operator content.
While OCP 4.22 removes Marketplace as a default/shipped catalog, the customer impact is not limited to 4.22 upgrades. As Marketplace content is progressively moved to Certified/Community (or removed) across index releases, customers on any OCP version may encounter install/upgrade resolution errors if their cluster still references Marketplace sources or if the requested content is no longer present in Marketplace.
Objective
Create a KCS article that:
- documents the most common customer-facing errors caused by Marketplace retirement and content movement/removal, and
- provides verified remediation steps to recover by switching to Certified or Community catalogs (when available), or handling cases where content is no longer available.
Owners / Contributors
- KCS Authors: @mku and @Yanai Gonzalez (standard KCS process)
- Inputs (errors + fixes): @cmacedo will gather and share error messages + confirmed fixes (steps/commands/expected results)
- Validation: Request QE to validate the end-to-end procedure before publishing
- PM: Owns final positioning/publishing
Acceptance Criteria
- Draft KCS includes:
-
- top errors + root cause tied to Marketplace removal / lift-and-shift,
-
- remediation steps for OLMv0 and OLMv1 (commands + expected results),
-
- guidance for content removed/not available scenarios,
- QE confirms the documented procedure works end-to-end.
