Enable benefits to a Red Hat Subscription for Marketplace customers, by linking their marketplace purchases to their Red Hat identity. This allows them to access support, downloads, KBase, subscription services like Insights or OpenShift Cluster manager, and more. This work requires building a generic marketplace-Red Hat linking capabilities, along with adding offering specific workflows where needed.
Enable usage metering per product so that they can both be included in HCS deals without causing customer friction and within Stratosphere for RHT-managed offerings and eventually self-managed offerings. Use-cases for cloud marketplaces which require technically different implementations range from PAYG offerings, contracts, as well as mixes like contract+PAYG, which have long been standard in cloud marketplaces. Unlike cloud-providers, which run their offerings on their own infrastructure, RHT offers need to solve this problem within the offering itself, and without consistent connectivity back to RHT infrastructure.
Cloud Marketplace billing integration enables Red Hat metered offerings to be correctly charged for, per cloud provider, per offering, and per customer correctly.
Automated spend collection and drawdown enables HCS customers more easily provide Red Hat with data about their spend towards their commitment, as well as visual that spend as it accrues. This includes the ability to either automatically collect or manually import data, as well as the ability to drill down into accrued spend and identify its component parts.
Critical technical deliverables under this HATSTRAT include:
- HCS burndown for internal associates (reporting) and end customers (UI dashboard)
- OpenShift, Ansible, and RHEL monthly self-managed On-Demand, for HCS customers
- Automated customer spend collection from AWS, Azure, and GCP to simplify HCS reporting requirement for customers
- Finish automation for self-managed EUS subscriptions and RHEL-for-SAP
- RHEL Auto-Reg for GCP for default connectivity (AWS and Azure already delivered)
- Provide cloud-provider marketplace to Red Hat identity linking, in order to deliver Red Hat subscription value to customer marketplace purchases for AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Reserved contract plus PAYG bursting capabilities available to offerings in AWS
- Support for new marketplace offering launches including Hypershift, SSCS CI/CD (RHTAP), SSCS Trusted Content, Ansible Wisdom, RHEL Satellite Online, RHEL CentOS conversions
