      Feature Overview (aka. Goal Summary)

RHEL 9.0 released with an Arm kernel that supported 4k pages, which was a change from RHEL 8.0 which used a 64k page size. Subsequent discussions with our hardware partners,, have shown that using a 4k page size reduced performance significantly for several Enterprise workloads.

      See RHELBU-1921

      Goals (aka. expected user outcomes)

Customers can specify the Arm 64k page kernel to be installed on RHCOS nodes via the extension mechanism.

      Future considerations:

Future Arm hardware is expected in some cases to only support kernels with 64k memory page size.
