      Goal

Achieve the Incubating status in the CNCF for Metal3.

We have worked towards meeting a number of requirements such as publishing adopters, having a versioning scheme or a security issues resolution process. Applying and getting status should follow. While we can apply, getting the status depends on the CNCF.

      Why is this important

Metal3 is a core technology in the automation of the provisioning of OpenShift clusters. At the same time it's a Kubernetes-native technology to manage bare metal nodes, which combined with Ironic brings years of experience managing hardware in a programatic way.

Promoting Metal3 to incubating recognises the maturity and adoption of this project which in turn will drive additional adoption and visibility in the Kubernetes community.

      Acceptance Criteria

*Successful use in production by at least 3 independent users
      *A healthy number of committers
      *Substantial ongoing flow of contributions
      *A clear versioning scheme
      *Clear security vulnerabilities resolution process
*Specifications must have at least one public reference implementation.
