Feature Overview (aka. Goal Summary)
Far edge devices might be connected only via wifi. MicroShift has to fully support deployments to wifi based environments.
Goals (aka. expected user outcomes)
Ensure MicroShift, esp. MicroShift networking, fully works on wifi connected hosts. A user should not feel any difference between fixed and wifi connected usage.
Requirements (aka. Acceptance Criteria):
- basic support: wifi only connected devices work. (MUST)
- mixed network: a device with fixed and wifi network should behave the same as a device with two fixed networks. (MUST)
- transition between network: a device can transition from fixed to wifi network and back. This might need a MicroShift restart due to IP address change, optionally if needed even a reboot. And it might need a (manually or automated) config change. (OPTIONAL)
Out of Scope
Actual configuration of the wifi network. We assume this is done on OS level, e.g. using cockpit or network manager
Documentation Considerations
If special configuration steps are needed, these need to be document. Best case, it simply works out of the box with no additional configuration needed, thus no additional documentation is needed.
Interoperability Considerations
None.
