Overview
The Genie web client MVP is the foundational user interface for the Genie MVP for OCP Console. It enables users to interact with backend systems through a conversational chat interface, visualize retrieved data in multiple formats, and manage saved views. The MVP validates core architecture and user workflows, while establishing patterns for extensibility, multi-cluster support, and secure authentication.
Goals (expected user outcomes):
- Users can log in securely with their existing credentials and access only authorized data.
- Users can interact with Genie through a chat-driven interface to request data or perform actions.
- Users can view data dynamically in a structured display view.
- Users can switch between different visualization types for the same dataset.
- Users can create, save, share, and delete views for reuse and collaboration.
- Users can trust system responsiveness through clear feedback.
- New users can quickly onboard with suggested actions and prompts.
Success Criteria & Key Metrics
- Primary Criteria: Successful validation of the core user workflows (chat, visualization, view management) by at least 3 target customers on the Dev Preview.
- Key Metric (Adoption): Establish a baseline for user engagement, tracking the number of views created and shared per active user.
- Key Metric (Feedback): A formal feedback loop is established, capturing qualitative feedback from all validating customers to inform the post-Summit roadmap.
Background
Red Hat’s Genie initiative aims to deliver a next-generation, AI-driven user interface for interacting with enterprise systems. The Genie MVP for OCP Console serves as the first major delivery milestone, proving the value of chat-driven interaction, flexible visualization, and view management. It is designed to validate technical architecture, establish design principles for extensibility, and demonstrate core business value to early adopters. By focusing on “must-have” capabilities in this initial release, the MVP balances user impact with execution feasibility while laying the groundwork for advanced features in future iterations.
