Description
Overview
This epic focuses on integrating Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities directly into the Hypershift CLI and HCP tooling to provide a unified and user-friendly disaster recovery experience.
Problem Statement
Currently, backup and restore operations for Hypershift clusters require multiple tools and manual coordination, making the disaster recovery process complex and error-prone. Users need to interact with different interfaces and tools to perform DR operations, which can lead to inconsistencies and operational difficulties.
Goals
- Integrate backup and restore functionality directly into the Hypershift CLI
- Provide unified DR commands through the HCP tooling
- Streamline the disaster recovery process for better user experience
- Reduce the complexity of DR operations for cluster administrators
- Ensure consistency across all DR-related operations
Scope
This epic will cover:
- CLI command integration for backup operations
- CLI command integration for restore operations
- CLI command integration for schedule operations
- Unified user interface for DR management
- Documentation and user guides for the new DR CLI features
- Testing and validation of integrated DR workflows
Success Criteria
- Users can perform complete backup operations using Hypershift CLI commands
- Users can perform complete restore operations using Hypershift CLI commands
- Users can perform complete schedule operations using Hypershift CLI commands
- DR operations are unified under a consistent command structure
- Documentation is available for all DR CLI features
User Stories
- As a cluster administrator, I want to backup my Hypershift cluster using a single CLI command
- As a cluster administrator, I want to restore my Hypershift cluster using a single CLI command
- As an operator, I want consistent DR operations across all my Hypershift deployments
- As a user, I want clear feedback and status reporting during DR operations
Technical Considerations
- Integration with existing backup/restore infrastructure
- CLI command design and user experience
- Error handling and recovery scenarios
- Compatibility with existing Hypershift workflows
