Overview

This feature enables the Machine Config Operator (MCO) to perform boot image updates for OpenShift clusters that were initially deployed using cloud provider marketplace images (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure). Currently, these clusters cannot be updated because the MCO has no source for the official marketplace RHCOS (Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS) image data. This work will integrate with a new image discovery mechanism to enable this functionality.

• Achieve feature parity for boot image updates between standard and marketplace-based installations.
