Enable OpenShift support for Marvell’s (e.g. Octeon 10) Data Processing Unit (DPU), allowing customers to deploy hardware-accelerated networking, security, and compute workloads on DPU-integrated infrastructure.  In particular, the Octeon 10 platform combines general-purpose Arm cores with high-performance packet processing engines and hardware acceleration blocks for offloading network functions, service meshes, and data path intensive tasks.

      The enablement includes:

      • Discovery and exposure of Octeon 10 DPU resources to OpenShift nodes.
      • Integration with the Node Feature Discovery (NFD) and Special Resource Operator (SRO) frameworks to install firmware, drivers, and configure the runtime environment.
      • Support for workload acceleration via Device Plugins or Resource Classes.
      • Validation of DPU-assisted networking use cases, including SmartNIC-style deployments, secure workload isolation, and CNF offload scenarios.
      • Documentation and testing on supported Marvell hardware platforms.

This outcome positions OpenShift for next-generation distributed compute models and infrastructure offload strategies in telco, edge, and high-performance networking environments.
