Initiative: Improve etcd disaster recovery experience (part4)
With the work from OCPBU-255 and OCPBU-254 we layout the mechanism for the possibility of automated restore of etcd & control-plane after full failure scenarios. The purpose of this feature is to investigate and determine path to follow for automated restore of failed control plane.
Scope of this feature
- Spike to investigate the viability of extending etcd-operator API for automated restore of full control plane failure based on documentation and findings from OCPBU-255
- Spike to understand if we can leverage ACM with Velero Backup API extensions to restore etcd and restore full cluster with it
- Recommendations on path to follow for automated restores options of full control plane failures, and define the following work to continue
