Use-cases
As a Cluster Service Provider:
- I want to migrate my Hosted Clusters to a new Management Cluster so that I can decommission the aging infrastructure without experiencing any downtime or data loss. When my existing Management Cluster reaches end-of-life or requires a major upgrade, I need a reliable way to seamlessly transition my Hosted Clusters to a new, supported environment, ensuring the continuity of my applications and services.
- I want to move my Hosted Clusters to a different datacenter so that I can consolidate our infrastructure and reduce operational costs. When our organization decides to consolidate data centers for efficiency and cost savings, I need a method to move our Hosted Clusters to the designated data center without disrupting active workloads or compromising data integrity.
- I want to simulate a disaster recovery scenario so that I can validate our backup and restoration procedures and minimize potential downtime in a real event. To ensure the resilience of our infrastructure and validate our disaster recovery plans, I need the capability to simulate a disaster scenario involving Hosted Cluster migration, allowing us to identify and address potential weaknesses in our procedures.
As a DevOps Engineer, I want to replicate my production Hosted Cluster to a staging environment so that I can test new features and upgrades without impacting the live system. When deploying new features or updates to our applications, I need a reliable method to create an accurate replica of our production Hosted Cluster in a staging environment, allowing for thorough testing and validation before releasing changes to users.
