      Situation
      RHEL 9.8 has discontinued building crun with WASM support. Since crun is the default container runtime in OpenShift (OCP) starting with version 4.19, this change directly impacts OCP.

      Action
      Beginning with OCP 4.19, WASM support will no longer be available because the default runtime (crun) is built without WASM capabilities.

      • state of WASM in OCP = WASM is in development preview from OCP 4.14

      Result

      • Users will not be able to experiment with WASM workloads in OCP 4.19 and later.
      • OCP’s Developer Preview claim for WASM support will also be removed.
      • Customers interested in WASM functionality on OCP are encouraged to submit an RFE (Request for Enhancement).
