      User Story

As a user of OpenShift Machinesets I want use ephemeral storage disks so that I can reduce the cost of my storage for specific workloads

      Background

Ephemeral OS Disks can be added to machines by setting a specific option on the request to create the VM. This will provision what are known as ephemeral disks which are cheaper than the conventional disks used in Azure VMs.

      Steps

      • Implement the new API fields for the feature
      • Implement the plumbing to plum this through to the create vm call

      Stakeholders

      • Cluster Infra

      Definition of Done

      • Users can configure ephemeral OS disks
      • Docs
      • Documentation about the feature and the field should be added to product docs
      • Testing
      • Check that when the new options are provided, the disk created on the VM is an ephemeral disk
