User Story
As an SRE within OSD I want safe and automated vertical scaling of Control Plane Machines so that I can manage thousands of OCP clusters and ensure the availability of their control planes without serious manual intervention.
Background
We _ currently _ have a proposal that talks about using MachineSets to manage Control Plane Machines. There are a number of risks associated with using MachineSets for this purpose. To be able to make the right decision for the product, we should compare the existing proposal with the idea of a dedicated Machine Controller for this purpose so that we can weigh up the two choices and decide which poses fewer risks and is the better solution for the product long term.
Steps
- Create document outlining the Control Plane controller idea
- Add a comparison section that compares the dedicated controller idea with the MachineSet idea
