TIM Customer is today validating the Backup & Restore procedure of the Red Hat OpenStack Director operator (OSP 17.1) installed on top of OCP (4.14).  

The OpenStack Director Director Operator relies on the metal3 (BMO) to manage the Bare Metal nodes with Compute node role in OpenStack.

As highlighted in the request below [Ref 1], in the OCP side there isn't any procedure available to grant the backup and restore of the metadata / information of the Metal3 operator.

The Backup & Restore procedure in TIM is today blocked on this missing information (see Ref 1 below) with an high Business risk and economical impact on the Customer side.

Hello Metal's gurus,
It is possible to backup and restore the state of the BMH nodes from a cluster to another ?
It could be useful in some Disaster Recovery Scenarios, specifically with my OSPdO installation the baremetal nodes are handled via Metal3. So if I loose the OCP cluster I need a way to restore the already inspected and provisioned nodes to their former state on the new cluster.Thanks,Andrea
