Our customer has engaged in a POC with OpenShift 4.16 where their environment only has 2 NICs per physical host.  We were unable to configure active/active or active/passive bonding of those NICs, and resorted to creating a bond with a single NIC to get the environment stood up.

They are looking to replace VMware with OCP Virt.  They are not willing to by additional NICs for 3,000+ physical hosts, along with the additional switch gear to accommodate.

Today they use VMware's “Route based on originating virtual port id”, also known as SRCID [source id].

Ultimately, they would like the NICs bonded in such a way that they can use active/active bonding mode and support SR-IOV use from hosted VMs.
