Description of problem:
Various Search Engine results link to prior versions of documentation and redirect links do not work
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.17
How reproducible:
Common across various documentation links
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Search for end-user query, such as "openshift virtualization local storage by using the hostpath provisioner". May require adding "-rosa" as recent SEO is placing this ahead of OCP. 2. Click on first link to https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.15/virt/storage/virt-configuring-local-storage-with-hpp.html 3. Click drop-down at top of page and choose 4.17 release. Alternatively use URL https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/virt/storage/virt-configuring-local-storage-with-hpp.html 4. Re-direct is to main page (i.e. https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/virt/about_virt/about-virt.html) and difficult to find the actual content page again
Actual results:
Expected results:
This occurs in various other documentation searches from Google, such as: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.10/virt/virtual_machines/virtual_disks/virt-configuring-local-storage-for-vms.html The SEO should be using /latest/ in the URL, such as: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/latest/installing/overview/index.html Which re-directs to: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.17/installing/overview/index.html The SEO should prune all previous versions, it is all too common to search for OpenShift technical questions and arrive at documents from 4.10 etc.
Additional info:
Unfortunately the Red Hat KB does not allow /latest/ in the URL, therefore: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform_installation/latest/html-single/installation_overview/index Will NOT re-direct to: https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/openshift_container_platform_installation/4.17/html-single/installation_overview/index
