      Description of problem:

With OpenShift Container Platform 4.12, https://github.com/openshift/installer/pull/6304 has been implemented and for newly installed OpenShift Container Platform 4 - Cluster, Machine Images are stored in image gallery instead of managed image on Microsoft Azure. The OpenShift Container Platform 4 documentation though is missing any information about this change. There are no details available as to why this change was done, how to deal with this kind of mixed environment and what customers are expected to-do, when they have OpenShift Container Platform 4 - Cluster on Azure running that were installed before that change. Should they actually change something or what is the recommendation from Red Hat.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

      OpenShift Container Platform 4.12, 4.13, 4.14 and 4.15

      How reproducible:

      Always

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1. While https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.14/machine_management/creating_machinesets/creating-machineset-azure.html has now updated examples, it does not explain that there was a change, why there was a change and what customers impacted should do.

      Actual results:

These kind of changes are causing disruption in multi-Cluster environment as customers may eventually be missing the change and overwrite {{MachineSet}} specification with automation as they are not aware about the change. This in turn might be causing more harm than compared to the benefit the change should actually provide.

      Expected results:

Highlight the change in Release Notes and also update documentation (likely https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.14/machine_management/creating_machinesets/creating-machineset-azure.html) to explain what has changed, when it has changed, why it has changed and what recommendation we provide customers having a potential mixed environment now.
