Release Note Not Required
Description of problem:
Despite the presence of a prominent red box containing information, there is a big red box with information in the documentation:
Creating the RHCOS image for restricted network installations
The RHCOS images might not change with every release of OpenShift Container Platform. You must download images with the highest version that is less than or equal to the OpenShift Container Platform version that you install. Use the image versions that match your OpenShift Container Platform version if they are available.
Customers currently do not have visibility into it, when they are on the Product Download Page and they are searching for images in a specific version that includes the client tools. It is crucial to address and rectify this issue to enhance the overall experience.
It is important to remove this red box and provide a link to the previous images under the Product Download Page. For example, in OCP v4.14.1 Download Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform the images are provided in v4.14.0.
Possible solutions to improve the user experience:
I. Add a red box to the Product Download Page.
II. Provide links to the images in the current version; for example, in v4.14.1, list images for 4.14.0 if they are not available. For example, introduce a new section and provide the links with a note that for v4.14.1, it is important to use images for 4.14.0.
Actual results:
When we forget to read the red box in the docs, customers are lost, and they need additional help to search for the images.
Expected results:
It is expected to have a fluent user experience, especially when the customer installs the product for the first time.
Additional info:
The header in the Product Download pages lies because there are not images for this and other releases:
Installers and Images for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (v. 4.14.1 for RHEL 9 for x86_64)
I would recommend correcting the header - remove the word "Images" if they are not available for the specific release. And add an additional header with options to download the images for 4.14.0 with a note that they are not available for each release. The one that is in the documentation in the red box, if it will be implemented, this header may be removed.
It is crucial to enhance the documentation by eliminating all atypical scenarios, most of which are typically highlighted in red boxes as 'IMPORTANT.'
