This Epic is to track OCMUI work required to change all external docs.openshift.com doc links to docs.redhat.com.

      Update from Michelle B.:

Our new timeline is as follows:
Phase 1: In mid-November, Docs Engineering will launch the experience parity features showcased at the recent XE all hands to docs.redhat.com. There will be a banner added to docs.openshift.com to invite users to try out docs.redhat.com.

Phase 2: Users can try out the new features and share feedback. This will allow time for CCS to make any content updates needed and for the DocX program to respond to priority issues that are submitted.
In parallel with stability improvements, the build system stability will be measured and tracked. The choice of a redirect date will be informed and guided by platform performance metrics agreed to by UXE and CCS leadership.

Phase 3: On the redirect date, traffic from docs.openshift.com will be redirected to docs.redhat.com.Please use this form to submit bugs, suggestions, and other actionable feedback for the docs.redhat.com experience. If you have additional questions, join us on Slack at #forum-docs-redhat.

      Original Email From:  Michelle Bearer
Title: Internal RH announcement: decommissioning of docs.openshift.com

TLDR: docs.openshift.com is being decommissioned in favor of docs.redhat.com

      Hello,
I’m writing today to provide awareness of an upcoming product documentation change. The purpose of this email is to give you a preview of changes coming and point you to where you can find more information.

      What is happening?

In alignment with Red Hat’s Experience Engineering and Digital Experience teams’ vision to unify, simplify, and evolve Red Hat’s digital experience, we will be decommissioning docs.openshift.com and redirecting traffic to docs.redhat.com

To prepare for this, the documentation, design, and engineering teams are prioritizing development of features that our customers value most on docs.openshift.com and will add those to the docs.redhat.com experience. For example, the ability to search within a specific version, improved navigation, and easier version selection are all improvements coming to docs.redhat.com.

      Why are we doing this?

There are several reasons why we are decommissioning the space, including:

      • Having two sites with the same content fractures the user journey at a time when Red Hat is focused on providing users with a cohesive, unified experience.
      • The duplication of content causes unnecessary confusion about which is the trusted, supported version.
      • Maintaining this site duplicates work across internal Red Hat teams.
      • This change aligns well with the broader Red Hat digital vision and will leverage unified wayfinding to other subdomains, while also supporting greater access to content across the digital and product portfolio.

      When will the redirect happen?

We plan to redirect traffic from and retire docs.openshift.com in November of 2024. Some frequently asked questions have been answered in this FAQ document.

If you have additional questions, join us on slack at  #forum-openshift-doc-site-retirement. Feel free to outreach directly to me, or any of the team members listed below.
