Alternate Normalization Models

What is the nature and description of the request?

Customer's are looking to:

• Reduce the size of logs being stored.
• Reduce or eliminate portions of the meta data provided now

Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements)

• Reduce the cost for storing logs which is based on total disk size

Reducing the amount of meta data will eliminate unwanted or unneeded bytes from being stored and will reduce the storage burden for customers.

List any affected packages or components.

• Log collector
• This potentially affects our managed log storage offering if we have data dependencies (e.g. elasticsearch template)
• This potentially affects log visualization of our explore plugin needs certain fields to be useful (e.g. labels)
