Initiative Overview (mandatory - Complete while in New status):
Customers need a reliable tool to measure the effectiveness of their efforts to optimize node power profiles (e.g., P-state/C-state changes). This Initiative is a Proof of Concept (PoC) to test if Power Monitoring (Kepler) is suitable for accurately measure these changes. The results will determine if we should invest further in collaboration with customers on this high-value use case.
Goals (mandatory - Complete while in New status): * Conduct a controlled PoC to determine Power Monitoring’s capability for measuring the power impact of node-level power management tuning.
- Write a report on the findings in the PoC
Who benefits from this Initiative, and how? * Engineering/Product team: insight into the product
- Product Manager: Helps with future collaborations and roadmap for the product
Done - Acceptance Criteria (mandatory - Complete while in Refinement status): # Test Execution: Successful completion of a PoC in a test environments where worker node P-state/C-state configurations are intentionally adjusted.
- Data Correlation: Node power draw measured by external instruments is compared against the reported metrics from Power Monitoring (Kepler).
- Feasibility Report: A comprehensive report is produced detailing:
- The power draw of the cluster observed during the testing.
- The measured change in values reported by Power Monitoring (Kepler).
- A technical conclusion on whether Power Monitoring is suitable for monitoring power management optimization changes.
Out of Scope (Initial completion while in Refinement *status):_ * Implementation of new customer-facing features or controls for P-state/C-state management.
- Power measurements for several hardware types. This should just be done in test environments we have today
