OADP 1.6 will support parallel backups.
New DPA parameter (Velero server): "concurrentBackups"
which specifies the number of backups that can be processed at once. This value will default to one if not specified.

velero will not allow more than one backups which include the same namespace to be processed in parallel

Need to cover this feature in OADP automation.
