      Epic Goal

      • Contribute multi-networking and AI/ML use cases to k8s device management Working Group
      • Evaluate how does DRA and upcoming changes impact the existing multi-networking solution built on Multus and k8s multi-networking KEP/KNI discussion
      • Evaluate how does DRA and upcoming changes impact the existing mechanisms for high performance networking solution (e.g. SR-IOV)
      • Prototype and experiments for WG alpha API definition targeting k8s 1.31
      • Evolve downstream consensus on goals
      • Determine relationships to efforts in K8s native multinetworking WG + KNI WG
      • Determine what implementations are necessary for usage in OCP

      Why is this important?

The newly formed k8s device management WG driven by AI/ML use cases aims to address some of the multi-networking and hardware attachment challenges by extending the DRA mechanism with standard k8s API. We should align with upstream effort and influence it to fit our use cases based on experience we had in multi-networking area.
