      Currently, messages are sent without compression. That guarantees the lightest messaging in terms of CPU but some customers could have problems with their network bandwidth.

      Kafka clients accept a compression method as configuration argument. Compression formats like "Snappy" provide a pretty good balance between CPU consumption and Network traffic.
