Goal of this feature:

SR-IOV is newly supported on IBM z17; allow direct attachment of I/O devices. For OpenShift this would allow to make some types of devices (PCI devices) available and directly attached in pods and improve performance, e.g. for storage devices.

Still clarifying the incoming dependencies on this (RHOAI: AI cards, RHOCPV: performant storage).

Acceptance Criteria:

If a feature is identified, epic is defined, dependencies/teams for enabling SR-IOV in RHOCP identified and teams contacted.

Timeline: 1 sprints effort (Sprint 280)

• Discuss customer requirement with IBM Z PM + IBM Z Client architects
• Get requirements from IBM Z RHOAI/RHOCPV/SDS teams.
