Historically, we have erred on the side of fully open access on our development environments to favor quick turn-arounds for development & QE.

Looking forward, it would be good to standardize our access and update playbooks and raise our security standards for these shared environments. Since these boxes are shared between the team, an enhancement on an environment can brick it for other users. To prevent this, we want to move towards updating our hardware access to take advantage of best practices, while still enabling our team to have a quick turnaround if they need to make administrative changes to their environments.
