This issue manifested as a memory stress error in the non-VM resource memory pool, identified within the VM kernel logs. This indicates the resource pool is running out of available memory to handle the offload operations.

Technical Details

• Symptom: Memory stress error observed in the non-VM resource memory pool in the VM kernel log.

• Context: Occurred during storage offload operations/testing.

• Impact: Expected to affect multiple customers, suggesting it is a common rather than an edge-case scenario.

Resolution

The agreed-upon fix is to enlarge the existing non-VM resource memory pool.

It is noted that this is considered a "cleaner option" but is not a recommended default practice as it allocates memory at the expense of memory available to VMs.
