Storage-Offload Known Issue (MTV 2.10)
Test Scope:
Storage-offload tests using 10 VMs and 50 VMs (2 disks each 50GB + 50GB) on a single ESXi host , vSphere 7.0.3.
Issue Summary:
During storage-offload migrations, the scheduling cost function appears incorrect.
This results in multiple populate-pods starting simultaneously on the same ESXi host, even though max_vm_inflight is set to 2.
As a result, more than two offload operations run in parallel, causing migration failures.
On VMware, vmkfstools enforces a strict limit of 2 active copy operations per host, and exceeding this limit leads to errors and plan failure.
Impact:
Single-host storage-offload plans may fail when more than 2 migrations are triggered at once observed in 10-VM and 50-VM test runs.
