Goal
Today, MTV warm migration first transfers the disks and then converts the guest. But the customers need to wait some time before the disks get transferred and if the guest conversion fails, it fails after all that time. It's not user-friendly when the users need to restart the VM migration after TB disks have been transferred, but the migration fails.
After this epic, MTV will have an inspection step in the warm migration so the migration will fail before the VM gets powered off.
User Stories
- As a VM owner, I want the VM migration to fail early, even before the VM is shut down, so that I can adjust the VM or skip the guest conversion.
What is the main user goal aka job to be done?
- As a System Administrator, I want to learn how to configure the new warm migration step so that I can detect potential failures early in the migration process and reduce downtime for critical applications.
- As an IT operations Manager, I want to understand the benefits and limitations of the warm migration feature so that I can make informed decisions about when to use it in our migration strategies.
- As a Virtualization Engineer, I want to experiment with the warm migration process in a test environment so that I can gain practical experience and ensure a smooth implementation in production.
- As a Cloud Architect, I want to explore advanced settings related to the warm migration step so that I can optimize the migration process for specific workloads and improve overall system performance.
- As a Technical Support Engineer, I want to access troubleshooting guidelines for the warm migration feature so that I can quickly assist users in resolving issues that arise during the migration process.
