[DOC] Add Support for AIO Buffer

XMLWordPrintable

      Goal

Today MTV supports passing the virt_v2v_extra_args with which the users can configure the VDDK AIO Buffer configuration, but it can work only on the cold migration. We need to find a way to add it to the CNV CDI and add an easy way for users to enable the feature on the providers.

      User Stories

      • I want to migrate the VM disks as fast as possible. The Scale&Perf team found an optimized VDDK AIO configuration. The MTV should be able to enable the configuration to be set on the provider.
      • I would expect the feature to work on both cold and warm migration.
      • I would want to have an optimized default but at the same time easily configurable VDDK AIO configuration

What is the main user goal aka job to be done?

      1. As a system administrator, I want to configure AIO buffer settings so that I can enhance the performance and efficiency of data processing tasks.
      1. As a software engineer, I want to access detailed guidelines on AIO buffer configuration so that I can implement optimal settings for my application’s specific workload.
      1. As a DevOps engineer, I want to monitor the impact of AIO buffer configurations on system performance so that I can make informed adjustments and ensure system stability.
