I am not sure if this is in the scope of Doc team, but once we move to Konflux, we will need to update policies and life-cycle https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/migration-toolkit-for-virtualization.
The new structure should include these channels:
- Tech preview
- This is the latest channel that may include breaking changes
- It is not supported
- Should only be used to preview what an upcoming major release may look like
- Example
- when active stable release is 2.y.z then tech preview will be 2.y+1.0 e.g. 2.8.5 -> 2.9.0
- Candidate
- This is the candidate for y-stream/z-stream release
- It is not officially released yet, but changes are actively being tested and prepared for release
- It is not supported yet but may be when switched to stable channel
- Example
- when active stable release is 2.y.z then
- In case of new Z-stream: 2.y.z+1 e.g. 2.8.5 -> 2.8.6
- In case of new Y-stream: 2.y+1.0 e.g. 2.8.10 -> 2.9.0
- when active stable release is 2.y.z then
- Stable
- This is latest stable release
- It is supported
- Example (when active stable release is 2.8.5): 2.8.5
Take the exact wording with a grain of salt.
ETA for Konflux releases is 2.9.0 for now.
