      RFC1123 allows periods in object names and you can create new VMs in OCP Virt with periods in the name but this is not allowed by the MTV.

      Many environments name VMs after their FQDN and this standard is broken by the restriction. Customers have voiced this during the roadshow workshop. I've attached a screen shot and associated YAML for a VM named after FQDN working as a fresh creation.
