Camel RoutingSlip does not produce ExchangeSentEvents

We are using Camel's event notification mechanism (via a class extending org.apache.camel.support.EventNotifierSupport),

The system works fine in all cases except when the routes make use of the RoutingSlip EIP: ExchangeSendingEvents are received but not the ExchangeSentEvents.
